Working with Word 2007 document
How to Create a New Document
To create new documents, open existing documents, and save documents in Word:
- Click the Microsoft Office Button
- Click on New
When you click on the Microsoft Office Button a drop down menu appears, then click New,
If you wish to start from a blank document, click Blank.

How Open an Existing Document
If you have recently created and saved a document, you can open it by following this steps:
- Click the Microsoft Office Button
- Click Open
When you click open, a menu will appear displaying all the saved documents / files. Place your cursor on the document you will like to open and click once. Then go down to the end of the drop-down menu and click open. (To save time double-click on the document)
How to Save a Document
To save a document follow this steps:-
- Click the Microsoft Office Button
- Click Save or Save As
- Remember this, if you’re saving the document for the first time, a dialogue box will appear to ask you where and what you want name you will like to save your document with. The box look like this:

Note:
- When you are sending, printing or saving a document that was created with older versions of word processor, word 2007 has a feature to convert it either ways.
To do that follows these steps:
- Click the Office Button,
- Click Save As,
- Click Word 97-2003 Document)

How to Rename a Document
To rename a Word document or a folder:
- Click the Office Button
- Click open and locate the file or document you want to rename.
- Right-click the document name with the mouse and select Rename from the shortcut menu.
- Type the new name for the file and press the ENTER key on your keyboard.
How to View Documents
There are many ways to view a document in Word 2007.
- Print Layout: This shows you how the document will appear when printed. This includes tables, graphics, and images.
- Full Screen Reading: This shows you the full-length view of a document.
- Web Layout: This enables you to view how your document will appear on the web browser.
- Outline: This shows you an outline of your document in the form of bullets.
- Draft: This view does not display pictures or layouts, just text.
Note:
Document views shortcuts at the bottom of the screen
Will enable you to view your document in different forms
To view a document in different forms:
- Click the View Tab on the Ribbon
- Click on the appropriate document view.
How to Close a Document
To close a document:
Click Close.
If you have made an adjustment on the document and forgot to save , word will ask you if you need the changes to be saved, you select Yes or No
